alabama adventures.

last saturday, my friend christyn texted me and asked if i wanted to spend sunday with her in alabama. her boyfriend was playing a show there that night, but she also has friends who live in the area so she's been before, and why not take a little road trip adventure?

that's the thing about christyn and me – we're always in it for the adventure. while most people have a destination in mind when they make plans to hang out, we just wing it. most of the time, it looks like this: we start somewhere, usually at a coffee shop, and then we wander around. we walk, or drive, without any real agenda, just to see what we can find.

together, we have explored germantown, broadway, hillsboro village, east nashville, 12 south, and probably more that i'm forgetting. she is the reason i am so familiar with different areas of this city.

i knew the day in alabama would be much of the same, especially when i got in the car that morning and she greeted me by saying, "i realized i don't actually know where we're going, but i put in the address of this bookstore i found."

from there, we just went with it. we had no real plans or anywhere in particular we needed to be, so we stopped and turned around and walked up and down small-town main streets. almost everything was closed, everyone who passed us on the street said hello, out loud, and i don't know that i've ever felt more northern than on this sunday in alabama, but it was the most fun.
