2024: week 17.

monday, april 22.

Olive is two!

At one point while we were at the park, I said, “Olive, happy birthday!” And she immediately responded and said, “To me!” Which was so funny and unexpected, and then she gave me this smile like she knew she was being funny.

She asked for me to rock her and sing to her before her nap, which was so sweet. I don’t think I’ve been the one to hold her and sing her to sleep since she was like, three months old or something.

I don’t have any photos from this day, but I went to T’s when I was done working. Part of what I love about spending the week and working from there is being able to pop over after work and have dinner together. I often think about how nice it would be to live next door to each other (or, you know, in the same city at least) so we could do that whenever we wanted. It was really nice to get to do that this week.

wednesday, april 24.

I met up with my coworker who lives in Charlotte at a coffee shop and we worked together for the morning. My company is fully remote, and it’s always so fun to get to see coworkers in real life.

After work, I stayed at my parents’ house for dinner and went on a walk with my mom before watching a movie together.

thursday, april 25.

Again, no photos. Again, I went to T’s. I think this was the night Luca, Jack, and I traded Pokemon cards. We all made some really good trades. They like to trade for the good, rare, or cool cards. I like to trade for the Pokemon that look cute. It works out well because it means we’re often not vying for the same cards.

Back at T’s. Olive was doing this funny thing where she’d sit in my spot once I got up. She’d giggle, point to where she was sitting, and say, “Olive!” Like that was her seat and she absolutely did not just slide into mine. It was so funny. She did it a couple times.

saturday, april 27.

I drove back to Nashville and spent the rest of my day unpacking, running errands, catching up with my roommates, and being what I keep calling “power productive,” where I just kept going until I got all the things done so that I could have a more restful Sunday.

I’ve made this drive hundreds of times, but this was the first time I noticed the contrast of all the greens with the trees that still had flowers on them. It’s always a beautiful drive, but this time felt extra beautiful — even after hundreds of trips just like it.

sunday, april 28.

My restful Sunday included a walk. It was like 80-something degrees out, and I loved it so much.

Also, the trees that were purple a couple weeks ago now have these deep red leaves, which I don’t love as much. I mostly find it super interesting how these trees go from flowers to leaves, and how have I never noticed this before?

I’m so glad I’m doing these weekly posts so I have my wonder properly documented.
